One of the hottest and most useful sites on the Internet of late is GigPark.
GigPark is a social networking site with a difference. Launched in Febraury 2008, GigPark allows friends and colleagues to recommend good services and local businesses that they have used in the past. The beauty of the site is that having come from a trusted source, one does not have to worry that it is just some third party business plugging their own services, before failing to deliver.
Escapework.net are firmly in the belief that this is the way companies will likely operate in the future. I mean why spend big money on non direct advertising when someone is likely to go with a competitor on the recommendation of several close friends. The power of the 2.0 web these days means that if someone has good or bad service, they can update their status on a site like www.twitter.com and within a few seconds everyone on their twitter network has received a free SMS update telling them to that effect.
This combined with other mitigating factors such as rising petrol prices means it is ever more likely that people will want to shop and work closer to home (as illustrated in a recent article on escapework.net) is order to maximise their ever reducing funds.
The old adage of bad publicity spreading quicker and further than good publicity has never been truer.
We heard from Noah Godfrey- the co-founder of GigPark -Â a few weeks ago and Noah told us the background to the GigPark concept (it is also outlined on their website).
Check it out, and help drive the success of local businesses!
Keep up the good work Noah!

Thanks Ashley! I’m glad you like GigPark so much and I couldn’t agree more with your sentiment about this being the way consumers and service providers will find each other in the future.
It has been unbelievably rewarding on our end to watch so many people discover the trusted real estate agent or handyman that their friends use. We’ve seen people plan their entire wedding or renovate their home all through recommendations from their friends on GigPark!
If anyone wants to check out my GigPark, I’m at http://www.gigpark.com/people/noahgodfrey
