Where are they now……Kim Wilde

Born on November 18th 1960 in Chiswick, West London, Kim was one of the hottest UK pop acts of the 1980’s.

Her debut 1981 song ‘Kids in America’ was followed by a mulitude of hits such as the super-smash ‘You keep me hanging on’ However the end of the 1980’s saw Kim drop out of the spotlight and several barren years proceeded before Kim starred in the Westend Stage hit Tommy from 1996-1997.

Marriage to her Tommy co-star Hal Fowler followed, as did two children. On January 3, 1998 she gave birth to Harry Tristan. Two years later, on January 13, 2000, Rose Elisabeth was born.It was during this time that an old interest in gardening resurfaced, and she attended the famous Capel Manor college to learn about horticulture primarily so she could build a garden for her children. It was here that Channel 4 spotted her and asked her to act as a designer for their programme Better Gardens. A year later she started a two year stint with the BBC, recording two seasons of Garden Invaders.

Her first book about gardening was published in 2005, entitled Gardening with Children. The second book followed in April 2006, entitled The First-time Gardener. Translations of the first book were released at the same time in Denmark, France, Spain and the Netherlands.

More recently Kim has been seen back in the spotlight for her music. In 2001 she appeared in an Abba tribute and this was followed by a 2003 European tour. In 2006, she signed for EMI records and released her 10th album, “You came 2006”, in Germany, Scandinavia and Asia.

Strangely at present, there are no plans to release a new album in the UK market.

A quick look on the offical Kim Wilde website reveals that Kim is presenting Party Classics on Virgin radio and possible performing live in the UK later this year.
