Ricky Gervais - This Side of the Truth

ricky-gervais.jpg

It certainly isn’t news that comedy genius Ricky Gervais is working on a new project but it is worth including a link to his pre-production blog which he started at the beginning of March.

Ricky is directing and starring as the lead in a film called This Side of the Truth.  He also wrote the film, set in a world like our own but where humanity has never evolved the ability to lie.  Ricky plays a loser who one day discovers that he, and he alone has the ability to lie.  As nobody else understands the concept, everyone believes everything Ricky’s character tells them without question.  He can get anything he wants.

Sounds like it is going to be an hilarious film and, to be honest, here at escapework.net we can’t fault anything that Gervais has done.  The film is due out in 2009.

Check out the weekly updates on his blog.

Gervais is genius….I used to have a friend in the UK who met him in a bar in 2000, before he was famous…told him about the office etc etc

would have loved to meet him when he was just a normal guy. sure he’s cool now but the fame must have got to him just a little!

the impression I get when I see him interviewed is that Ricky Gervais is very similar to David Brent, maybe just a little toned down

I met Lee Francis once (Keith Lemon, Avid Merrion), I couldn’t tell where the characters ended and he began.
I think a lot of performers would like to believe they have created a stage persona, but it’s just a truer version of themselves, with the internal editors and the consequences turned off.
