Only in America

illinois.jpg

This really is an only in America kind of story. Picked up on http://www.ananova.com earlier today it has been reported that two sisters are selling a cornflake on eBay.

Why?  Well, it looks a lot like the state of Illinois. That sounds like madness in itself but the bidding has reached over £100K! For a cornflake!!

This is a copy of their eBay sales pitch:

“This is a great opportunity to own a frosted corn flake shaped like the great state of Illinois! This frosted corn flake was pulled out of a box of Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes and has undergone no alterations to is shape or appearance. It’s uncanny resemblance is completely natural! The corn flake is larger than your average flake, measuring about 2 inches in length and 1 3/8 inches in width, and is just lightly frosted. Its large size adds impact to its unusual shape.

This is a must have item for any Illinois lover, collector of food look-alikes, or anyone who desires a unique conversation item!

Free Shipping to Illinois!”

This seriously could only happen in the big old US of A.

Idiots.

If you’re American and keen to own a cornflake then here’s a link to their listing.  You only have until the 20th March to make your bid.

If you’re not American and keen to own a cornflake, go to a supermarket.

Gag.

*Update* - eBay have removed the auction as it was a violation of their food policy.

    Oh well. No real loss

I have heard that they now have an auction for a voucher, which can be exchanged for an Illinois shaped cornflake.

You’re still in with a chance
